According to China Central Television (CMG), the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Chinese government recently issued an opinion on accelerating the comprehensive green transformation of socio-economic development, which is the first time that the Chinese government has systematically planned for the comprehensive green transformation.

While China actively promotes its green transformation, China has also strengthened cooperation with many Southeast Asian countries in green energy and supported each other with the potential of each other's resources. In particular, under the guidance of the Action Plan on Building a China-Laos Partnership for a Shared Future, China-Laos green energy cooperation has promoted the green and low-carbon transformation and sustainable development of Laos.

Laos is one of the countries with the richest water resources in Southeast Asia, and clean and renewable energy has attracted increasing attention around the world. China, the largest source of capital and the second largest trading partner of Laos, is also the main participant and promoter of the construction of hydropower dams in Laos. At present, Chinese enterprises have invested in 18 hydropower dams in Laos, such as the Ou River Hydropower Dam, the Nam Lik 1-2 Hydropower Dam and the Nam Ngiep 2 Hydropower Dam, with an installed capacity of 2,348 megawatts, which has continuously promoted the development of Laos' hydropower sector. These projects have not only provided Laos with stable clean energy, but also created job opportunities for local people, and built and renovated roads, bridges, schools, children's parks and other infrastructure in various localities in Laos, which has greatly promoted the socio-economic development of the localities.

In addition, China has also carried out cooperation with Laos in clean energy fields such as solar power generation, wind power generation, etc. Recently, Chinese enterprises and the Lao government jointly signed a development agreement to build a clean energy center to integrate wind power generation, solar power, hydropower and energy storage in three provinces in northern Laos. In particular, the first phase of the 1,000-megawatt solar power generation project in Oudomxay province in northern Laos has entered the preparation phase.

The signing ceremony for the second phase of the project, the 580-megawatt solar power project in Luang Namtha province and the 420-megawatt solar power project in Oudomxay province, was held in Vientiane recently. After the project is fully completed and starts generating electricity, it is expected that the amount of electricity connected to the grid will reach more than 1,600 million kilowatt-hours per year, saving about 501 million tons of coal per year, which will help promote the green transformation and sustainable socio-economic development of Laos.

The wind power project, which was built by a Chinese enterprise, has become the largest wind power project in Southeast Asia and the first wind power project in Laos. The project is located in Sekong and Atapi provinces in southern Laos. When the project is completed as planned, it will mainly export electricity to Vietnam. This is the first time that Laos has exported electricity generated from green energy abroad, helping Laos further realize its vision of the Southeast Asian Battery.
